Mystery Fruit

My travels through Asia exposed me to fruits and vegetables I had never encountered before. Since moving back to the US, I admit that I do miss eating fresh lychees and dragon fruit.

Recently, I have come across some fruits and vegetables that I haven’t seen before at the local grocery store. To my surprise, many of these fruits and vegetables are grown here in the US.

Yesterday, I decided to try this fruit. I have no idea if it’s any good or how to pick out a good one, but I’ll try my luck with it anyway. The question I have for my readers is: Can you identify this fruit? And does anyone know if it’s available in China?

I’ll reveal the answer next week.

Linda, It’s not an avocado–though it does look a little like it.

Angie, It’s definitely not 火龙果 (I would have bought a lot more for that price if it was).

I will give you a hint: There is also a red variety of this fruit and it grows in the deserts of the US and Mexico.
